One of the lesbians whose scuffle with police contributed to the Stonewall riots, and a member of the Stonewall Veterans Association. Was a successful drag act, a bouncer at a number of New York bars and an advocate for LGBT rights. Received numerous public honours and recognitions for her rights work.
