Film and theatre actor. His appearance in many films included 'Georgy Girl' (1966), 'The Fixer' (1968), and 'The Rose' (1979). Appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (1996) and was knighted (2003). Relationships included the skater John Curry.
