Description

Independent labour historian and chronicler of the LGBTQ community. Co-founder of the community-based San Francisco Lesbian and Gay History Project. Author of the book 'Coming Out Under Fire' (1990, Lambda Literary Award), a study of LGBTQ individuals in the military. Recipient of a MacArthur Fellowship Award. Other books include 'My Desire for History: Essays in Gay, Community, and Labor History' (2011).
