Description

Cofounder of the LGBTQ author's group 'Violet Quill'. Author of several novels before dying of AIDS. His work explores the uneasy integration of homosexuality and traditional American upper middle class values. Books include 'The Others' (1977), 'The Family of Max Desir' (1983), 'The Blue Star' (1985), and 'Second Son' (1988). In 1988, the Ferro-Grumley Awards for LGBT fiction were created in his and his partner Michael Grumley's honor.
