Sprinting and hurdling athlete. World Hurdler champion (1993, 1999) and Olympic Silver Medal (1988). Undefeated at the European Championships for 12 years. Sports commentator for television and radio. Has appeared in the television reality show Strictly Come Dancing (2005). Made a Member of the Order of the British Empire (1990), promoted to OBE (1993) and Commander (2003).
