Description
Deputy Dean, University of Cape Town Law School since 2011, and holds the Claude Leon Foundation Chair in Constitutional Governance. Constitutional law scholar. Author of the blog 'Constitutionally Speaking', which deals with South African social and political issues from a constitutional law perspective. Provides commentary to newspapers, magazines, and other media on subjects such as sexual orientation discrimination and same-sex marriage, the enforcement of social and economic rights, HIV/AIDS, the construction of race, racism and racial discrimination and other human rights issues. Chairperson of the Board of the Aids Legal Network, and a board member of the Triangle Project, a non-profit LGBT advocacy organization. Author of numerous academic papers on the subject.
