Description

Novelist, journalist, and stage actor. Known for her book 'Gigi' (1944) which was made into a film of the same name. Other works include her collection of short stories 'The Tendrils of the Vine' (1908), and the four Claudine books published under her husband's name. After divorcing her husband, had affairs with Natalie Clifford Barney and Mathilde de Morny, among others. Wrote a regular column in the Paris daily, Le Matin, at first under a pseudonym, then as Colette Willy. Contributed articles to many other newspapers. Full name is Sidonie-Gabrielle Colette.
