Description
Founder of LGBT History Month. Professor Emeritus, Harvey Milk Institute. Activist for LGBTQ rights since the late 1960s. Co-chair of Schools Out, a group working for the equality of LGBT people in the education system, which was originally founded in 1974 as The Gay Teachers Association. Founded 'the classroom' website (2012) which has over 80 lesson plans which usualise LGBT people, history, experience across the curriculum and for all ages. Cofounded OUTing the Past (with Dr Jeff Evans) in 2014, the biggest LGBT history festival in the UK which will be international in 2019. Poet and short story writer and theatre director.
