Description
Lecturer, and most famous transexual of the 20th century after her 1952 surgery. Transexual rights pioneer. Became an overnight sensation, and she used her celebrity to advance the rights of transsexuals. Former member of the U.S. Army. Woman of the Year (1953) by the Scandinavian Societies of Greater New York. Author of her autobiography 'Christine Jorgensen: A Personal Autobiography' (1967). Three years later it was filmed as The Christine Jorgensen Story.
