Description

Born as Velma Nacella Young, writer of lesbian pulp fiction and poet, and LGBTQ activist. Notable books include 'Hired Girl' (1953) and 'Return to Lesbos' (1963). Contributor to the lesbian magazine 'The Ladder', and started Mattachine Midwest society and Lesbian Writers' Conference. Member, Chicago Gay & Lesbian Hall of Fame. Writings are held at Cornell University.
