Writer, teacher of literature, and LGBTQ activist. Noted for the novel 'The Boyfriend' (2003), one of the first gay novels in India. Professor and head of the English Department at the University of Pune. Editor, 'Ten Indian Writers in Interview' and co-editor 'Image of India in the Indian Novel in English (1960–1980)'.
