Description

Known as Billy Jones, actively involved in LGBTQ rights and civil rights. Founded the first political organization, local and national, to represent the views and interests of African-American gay men and lesbians, the DC Coalition formed in 1978, which led to the formation of the National Coalition of Black Lesbians and Gays (NCBLG). Founding member of Gay Married Men's Association (GAMMA). Active in AIDS education.
