Description

Feminist and Civil Rights leader. Founder of Aspira (formerly the Puerto Rican Forum, Inc), a non-profit organization that promoted a positive self-image, commitment to community, and education to the Latino community. Founder of Boricua College. Author of her autobiography 'Memoir of a Visionary: Antonia Pantoja' (2002) in which she discusses her lesbian sexuality. Former Associate Professor of Social Work at San Diego State University. Numerous achievement awards, including the Presidential Medal of Freedom (1996, and one of four Puerto Rican recipients in history).
