Biologist, and researcher in the field of AIDS. Founder of the National Gay & Lesbian Task Force (1973), and former president of the Gay Activists Alliance. Coined the term Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome. Founder, the Mariposa Education and Research Foundation (1978-1995), which researched issues of sexuality and homosexuality - its material was gifted to Cornell University.
