Notable Achievements

Description

Prolific painter of nature, flowers and gardens. Best known for the irises he bred in his garden at Benton End in Suffolk, famed for its seriousness and its discrimination. Began the East Anglian School of Painting and Drawing with his parner Arthur Lett-Haines. Paintings include 'Iris Seedlings' (1943), 'Easter Bouquet' (1934), 'Floreat' (1933) and 'Iris and Tulips' (1950s). In 2015, an exhibit of some of his irises won a Gold Medal at the Chelsea Flower Show. In 1984 the Tate Gallery held a retrospective exhibition of Morris's work.
