Description

First Chairman of the University of Toronto Homophile Association, and active in other gay groups. Curator of Canadian Art, National Gallery of Canada from 1980 to 2014. One of the organizers of and participants in We Demand, the first ever large-scale gay-rights demonstration in Canada, held on Parliament Hill in 1971. President of Gays of Ottawa from 1972 to 1975. Appointed to the Order of Canada in 2000. Also known as Charles Hill.
