Description

Novelist, short story writer, critic, poet, playwright. Currently Professor of the Humanities at Columbia University and lecturer in Irish letters at Princeton University, and was professor of creative writing at the University of Manchester along with visiting professor at many universities. Notable books include 'The Blackwater Lightship' (1999), 'The Master' (2004 - Lambda Literary Award), and 'The Testament of Mary' (2012). Short story books include 'The Empty Family' (2006). Recipient of the Irish PEN Award for contribution to Irish literature.
