Description

Television and film producer. Best known though as the producer of the multi-award winning drama 'Brideshead Revisited' (1979-1984). Notable for the television soap show 'Coronation Street' (1960-1962) and the movie 'Where Angels Fear to Tread' (1991). First critic of the Financial Times newspaper, and founded the FT Arts section. Former head of drama at Granada Television. Literary consultant to Laurence Olivier at the National Theatre. Vice president of the Regency Society which aims to preserve the architecture of the town of Brighton. Partner was interior designer Kenneth Partridge.
