Description
Ruler of China as the head of the Han dynasty who ascended the throne at the age of twenty, and who ruled for a few years just before the birth of Christ. Adored his male lover so much (so the story goes) that he cut the sleeves off his imperial robes rather than disturb his napping companion, Dong Xian, when he fell asleep on top of them. Ai appointed Xian as commander of the armed forces, which alarmed many in the court. His period of rule became known for its corruption and heavy taxation. Formal name was Liu Xin.
