Description

Former Attorney General, province of Ontario, 1985-1990. Instituted a number of legal reforms including the abolition of appointments as Queen's Counsel, the introduction of Ontario's first Freedom of information legislation, and the introduction of an independent panel to recommend judicial appointments. Liberal Party Member of Provincial Parliament (1985-1992). Subsequently taught at Osgoode Hall Law School, York University. Constitutional lawyer. Author of his memoirs 'To Make A Difference'. Appointed a member of the Order of Canada (1996).
