Description

Kabaka of Buganda from 1884 until 1888 and from 1889 until 1897, who fought the Christian missionaries who opposed his homosexuality. This precipitated a showdown between the African country and western countries. After the British expelled him from the throne, they again embraced him after he acceded to demands for a sharing of revenues and sovereignty in 1890. In 1897, he again declared war on the British, and was defeated and exiled to the Seychelles. Also known as Daniel Mwanga. Bisexual.
