Description

Born as a woman, she disguised herself as General Tito Anibal da Paixao Gomes in the Portuguese army for twenty years. The role started out with a costume party in 1974, but she continued to play the role until 1992 when the disguise was discovered, despite having a female live-in companion for fifteen years. During her court trial on charges of giving fraudulent investment advice to personal friends, she continued to dress as a man.  The trial revealed that Teresinha had other personalities as well. Some people knew her as a lawyer, and others as an employee at the US embassy in Lisbon.
