Description

Film producer known for his documentaries about gender, sexuality and the LGBTQ community. Films include Boys for Beauty (1999), Not Simply a Wedding Banquet (1997), and Scars on Memory (2005). Author of his memoir 'Taipei Father, New York Mother' (2011) which uncovers the pains of his family woes. It became a bestseller after its release in 2011, and was transformed into a play in 2012. Much of his work was inspired by his own difficult childhood and his struggles coming out to a less-than-accepting father, who initially rejected him due to his sexuality. LGBTQ activist. Also known as Lao Niang and as Jade Sister.
