Description

Transgender Assistant Health Secretary under President Joseph Biden since 2021. Wworn in as an admiral, the highest-ranking official of the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps, whose 6,000 uniformed officers are entrusted with protecting the nation's public health, in 2021. This appointment made her the organization's first female four-star officer, and the highest ranking transgender official. President of the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials.
