Description

Senior partner with the law firm of Ursel Phillips Fellows Hopkinson LLP. Practices in the areas of labour, employment, pay equity, employment equity and human rights law, as well as pensions and benefits law. Has appeared in the Supreme Court of Canada on such precedent setting Charter cases as its decision to deal with the equality rights of gay men and lesbians; issues of LGBT rights and the appropriate training of teachers; availability of public health care for the transgender community; and the educational rights of children in gay and lesbian families. Founding member or director of many significant initiatives in the profession and the community at large. Received the Canadian Bar Association's (CBA) 2011 Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Conference (SOGIC) Hero Award (2011).
