Description

Multi-media artist whose work reflects religious iconography and themes. Exhibitions have appeared in shows from the Venice Biennale (1984) to the Whitney Museum in New York city, and he was the subject of a retrospective at the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA, 2012-2013). Teaches in the MFA department at New York City's School of Visual Arts (SVA). Active participant in the Stonewall Riots of 1969, and was profiled in the documentary 'Stonewall'. Also known as Tommy Lanigan-Schmidt.
