Description
Theatre, film, and television actor. Winner of nine Tony Awards for his theatre roles, being the only person to win Tony Awards in the same categories (Best Choreography and Best Direction of a Musical) in consecutive years (1990 and 1991), and the first to win in four categories. Member, American Theatre Hall of Fame. Recipient, National Medal of Arts (2003). Author of his autobiography 'Footnote' (2014).
