Description

Professor of Physical Chemistry. Former Member of the Knesset (parliament, 2002-), being the first elected open LGBTQ person in parliament. Successfully went to court to obtain permission for same-sex adoption. Was dismissed from the Israel Defense Forces when they discovered that he was gay. His marriage, the adoption of his son, and his divorce, were all among the first to be legally recognized in Israel, setting a legal precedent for other queer couples in the country.
