Description

Filmmaker, HIV/AIDS activist. Board member and Co-director of Ndifuna Ukwazi (Dare to Know), an organisation which aims to build and support social justice organisations and leaders. Chairperson of Equal Education. Founding member, National Coalition for Gay and Lesbian Equality, which eventually led to equality of same-sex marriage in the country. HIV positive. Has won numerous awards, including the inaugural Desmond Tutu Leadership Award in 2001, the Jonathan Mann Award for Global Health and Human Rights in 2003, and the Nelson Mandela Award for Health and Human Rights in 2003.
