Description

Science fiction author, notably of '2001: A Space Odyssey' series of novels and 'Rendezvous with Rama'. Host and commentator in the British television series 'Mysterious World'. He was knighted and named a Commander of the Order of the British Empire for his contributions to science.  He also was awarded Sri Lanka's highest civil honour, Sri Lankabhimanya, in 2005 after living in Sri Lanka for the later part of his life. The Arthur C. Clarke Award is presented annually for science fiction writing.
