Description

Golf, basketball, track and field. Won two gold medals and one silver medal for track and field in the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics. First woman to play in a PGA tournament with men. Winner of the 1948 US Women's Open. Named the 10th Greatest North American Athlete of the 20th Century by sports television network ESPN. Has a museum named for her in Beaumont, Texas.
