Filmmaker. Director of the film 'Mudbound' (2017). Her film 'Pariah', details an African-American lesbian’s coming-out, as well as her struggle with the rigid definitions of butch and femme. Premiered at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival and won several accolades including the John Casavettes Award at the 2012 Independent Spirit Awards; “Breakthrough Director” at the 2011 IFP Awards; and the GLAAD Media and NAACP Image Awards.
