Executive Director of Pembina Institute, an independent think tank. Member of Provincial Parliament, Ontario for Toronto Central district (2010-2017). Former mayor, Winnipeg (1998-2004), being the first openly gay mayor in Canada. Former Minister of the Environment (to 2017), Minister of Research and Innovation (2010), and Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities (2011), Province of Ontario. Former president and CEO of the Canadian Urban Institute. Ran for leadership of the provincial Liberal Party in 2013 but failed in his bid.
