Description

Personal friend of Emperor Hadrian, and one of the richest men of his time who was also a noted public benefactor. Philosopher and Roman Senator. Prefect of the free cities in the Roman province of Asia. Appointed consul in 143, being the first Greek to hold such a position. One of his greatest stories of love was with his disciple Polydeukes.
