Description

Magazine editor, cookbook author, actor and writer. Former Editor-in-chief of Saveur (2006-2014) and Organic Life (2014-2016). Judge on the Bravo television series Top Chef Masters (2009-2013). Cookbooks include 'Cradle of Flavor: Home Cooking from the Spice Islands of Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore' (2006) and 'The Way We Cook: Portraits From Around the World' (2012). Author of his coming-of-age memoir 'Jimmy Neurosis' (2019), which chronicles his life growing up as a queer punk rocker in the 1970s and 1980s. Served on the board of directors of the American Society of Magazine Editors. Was involved in the Los Angeles theatre scene from 1987-1993.
