Philosopher who was appointed chair at Cambridge University and is noted for producing ground-breaking work. Noted works cover the subjects of logic, mathematics, and language. Notable book is 'Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus' (1921). Most of his work was published posthumously. A philosophical society in Austria is named in his honour.
