Chief Nurse of Washington State National Guard, full colonel in the US army. After divorcing her husband, came out as lesbian and, after a long attempt by her detractors, was discharged. An early and prominent opponent to anti-gay policies in the military. Activist, author. Movie about Cammermeyer's story, 'Serving in Silence', was made in 1995.
