Description
America's first National Security Advisor (1953-1955, 1957-1958) when he became right-hand man to President Dwight Eisenhower. Former army Brigadier General, and chief strategist for Eisenhower's presidential election campaign (1952). Lawyer, and former corporation counsel for the Mayor of Boston. Executive Director of the Inter-American Development Bank (1960-1962). Closeted gay man in the White House administration. He had a central character in the creation of Executive Order 10450 which declared homosexuality a threat to national security and began a series of purges of gay government employees and instigated the McCarthy hearings. Had a relationship with Steve Benedict (security director at the White House), Tilghman 'Skip' Koons (National Security Council staff member), and others. Subject of the book 'Ike's Mystery Man' (2018). Awarded the Distinguished Service Medal (1944) and Legion of Merit (1945). Also known as Bobbie Cutler.
