Science Fiction writer, whose books are based in her home country, feminism, and Afro-Caribbean culture.  Associate Professor in Creative Writing, University of California at Riverside, since 2011.  Notable books include 'Brown Girl in the Ring' (1998) and 'Skin Folk' (2001).  Recipient of numerous awards for her work.
