Investigative reporter for the newspaper 'Novaya Gazeta', being the first journalist to write about the punk protest band 'Pussy Riot'.  Has been arrested and beaten on numerous occasions for her LGBTQ activism.  Recipient of the Freedom Award for her reporting on the subject (2013).
