First out transgender individual to serve in the United States military, where he was a Seargant in the U.S. Army, and former U.S. Marine as a woman.  Fought for the rights of trans people in the army since 2008, including co-founding a chapter of a nonprofit that supports transgender soldiers in active service.  LGBTQ activist.
