Multiple Lambda Literary Award winner.  Member of the Fellowship of Southern Writers. Writing includes themes of class struggle, sexual abuse, child abuse, feminism and lesbianism.  Notable books include 'Bastard Out of Carolina' (1992), 'Cavedweller' (1998, Lambda Literary Award), 'Trash' (1989, Lambda Literary Award), and 'Cavedweller' (1998, Lambda Literary Award).  LGBTQ activist.
