Labor Party Member of Parliament since 2013.  Minister for the Environment and Minister for Disability Services (2017).  Supporter of equal marriage legislation.  Announced that he would marry his same-sex partner irrespective of a High Court challenge to the law at the time which allowed such a marriage in Australia Capital Territory.
