Secretary of the Democratic Party (PD) since 2023.  Member of Italy's Chamber of Deputies representing Emilia-Romagno riding since 2022.  Previously the vice-president of Emilia-Romagna and a member of the European Parliament (2014-2019).  Notable for working on former U.S. president Barack Obama’s electoral campaigns in 2008 and 2012.  Bisexual.
