Parliamentary member for the SPD Party since 1998, and Treasurer of the SPD Party.  Minister for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety.  Formerly was Parliamentary Secretary of State at the Federal Ministry of Finance (1998-2007) and a local councilor (1984-1989).
