President, Amherst College, Massachusetts since 2011.  Served as chancellor of the University of Wisconsin-Madison (2008-2011) and as Cornell University’s provost (2000-2008).  Scholar of German studies and the author of numerous articles and two books.  Member, LGBTQ Presidents in Higher Education.  Also known as Carolyn A. Martin.
