Historian and writer of LGBTQ history in the American South.  Notable books include 'Growing Up Gay in the South' and 'Rebels, Rubyfruit, and Rhinestones: Queering Space in the Stonewall South' (2001).  Editor of the international Journal of LGBT Youth.  Has taught at Trinity University, Indiana University, Harvard University, Penn State University, the University of South Carolina, and lectures throughout the world.  Real estate consulting professional.  Also known as James Thomas Sears.
