Transgender author, playwright working to create positive, celebratory representations of trans lives.  Notable for his books 'Gender Outlaws: The Next Generation' (2011, Lambda Literary Award), 'Butch is a Noun' (2006), and 'The Nearest Exit May Be Behind You' (2009).  Member of the Governor of Massachusetts' Safe Schools Commission for LGBT youth.
