==Description==

Poet, author, playwright, literary critic.  One of the most famous Cuban writers of the twentieth century; some of his works deal explicitly with male homosexuality and transvestism.  Relationship with philosopher [[Francois Wahl]].  Died of AIDS.  Was also an artist.  The Severo Sarduy Cultural Foundation was created in his honour.
