Description

Campaigner for sexual reform. Author, legal advisor. Developed a biological theory of homosexuality, called 'third sex' theory. Pioneer of the modern gay rights movement. Was dismissed from this job in the civil bureaucracy when he was revealed to be gay. Though he wrote prolifically, his Books were often banned and confiscated. The International Lesbian and Gay Law Association presents a Karl Heinrich Ulrichs Award for distinguished contributions to the advancement of LGBTI equality.
